Sciatica is nerve irritation of the sciatic nerve in the low back, causing pain or numbness into one or both legs. It can come from many different origins, but the most common are: mis-aligned vertebrae, herniated disc, compressed disc, fractured vertebrae, damaged nerve, swollen ligament or tendon, pulled muscle, etc . . .
Chiropractic can help treat sciatica by reducing inflammation and spasms of muscles, reducing joint fixations, re-aligning and decompressing the spine and reducing nerve swelling.
Most sciatica problems can be treated and resolved without surgery if it is treated immediately. Icing and stretches at home may help reduce the pain and spasms, but if the pain or numbness into the leg persists contact your our offices or your doctor immediately.
